If the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) believes you are inadmissible to enter or remain in Canada, you may be ordered to appear at an admissibility hearing by the Immigration Division of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada.
Reasons you may be called to an admissibility hearing include:
- you are part of a criminal organization, have committed crimes outside of Canada, or otherwise pose a security threat to Canada,
- you have misrepresented yourself during your immigration procedures, or
- you in any way violated the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA).
If the government finds that you are inadmissible, you will receive a request for an admissibility hearing. If you do not appear at your hearing, you can be arrested.
