A Super Visa allows parents or grandparents of Canadian residents to visit Canada for a limited period of time.

A Super Visa is valid for 10 years and lets you stay in Canada for up to 2 years at a time. It is a multiple-entry visa, which means you can leave Canada and return again with the same visa. Only the time you spend in Canada counts toward the 2-year limit.

To be eligible for a Super Visa, you must:

  • have a child or grandchild who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and meets the requirement for minimum necessary income,
  • have medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company (with coverage of at least $100,000), and
  • have a signed letter from your child or grandchild promising to take care of you financially for the duration of your visit.
